Owner Jumps Off Back of Stolen Tractor-Trailer as Georgia Troopers Give Chase A tractor trailer truck stolen from Atlanta raced south on Interstate 75 on Tuesday with a bandit at the wheel and the rig’s rightful driver clinging to the back of its cab. Milo Banks, 27, of Albany, is accused of car-jacking the truck’s owner at the Kroger in Union City, 4550 Jonesboro Road, according to authorities. He remained in custody at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday e More..vening. State troopers and deputies from several counties chased the truck all the way to Forsyth in a high-drama pursuit that was broadcast via TV-news choppers on national cable outlets. The trailer-less red rig, its tires shredded, ground to a halt shortly after 3 p.m. just north of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Monroe County. “Apparently Fulton County officers started chasing them ... and there was a man, a hostage, on the truck. And our officers did see a man hanging on the back of it, holding on to the air lines,” said Monroe sheriff’s Lt. Brad Freeman. “We tried to use some spike strips near the Monroe-Lamar county line, and I don’t know if it hit the spike strips or not.” The truck was stopped about seven miles later, half a mile north of the Monroe weigh station, with its front tires gone. “Just rims,” Freeman said. “The person on the back of the truck jumped off after it slowed down. ... Cars and buses were forced to screech to a halt when the hole - measuring eight feet by six feet and at least six-feet deep - suddenly appeared on Barlow Moor Road in Didsbury. Footage filmed from an office window by Graeme Barry shows the moment the road More.. collapsed. Graeme, 25, and colleagues at Envantage energy consultants looked out of the window when they heard bangs as cars grounded out on a step forming in the road. "I had gone back to my seat and then my boss said: 'There's a hole now' so I went into another office and started filming. It dropped through as I was recording." Binman Paul Diment, 24, from Didsbury, said: "It was just a small hole at first but every time a car went over it sagged more and more. "Then the whole lot just collapsed. It just gave way - we couldn't believe it. We were waving our arms to stop traffic". Amazingly, there was no serious damage to vehicles or any injuries. A large crowed of onlookers gathered and stood in the road to warn approaching motorists. Barlow Moor Road was closed between Wilmslow Road and Palatine Road with diversions put in place between Palatine Road, Lapwing Lane and Wilmslow Road. Another eyewitness said: "I saw two men waving their arms and all the cars coming to a stop as I was driving down the road. When I looked out of my car window the tarmac was giving way. "By the time I got out of the car there was just this huge hole where the surface had caved in and the tarmac around it was cracked." Chris Barber, Manchester council's head of highway services, said: "Engineers from the council and United Utilities have visited the site but further investigation is needed. "In the past holes of this size have been caused by a combination of a sewer collapse and burst water mains." Man brutally stabs woman, then runs her over with car News/surveillance video:April 17/09.Police used surveillance video and witness statements to piece together a murder that took place at about 8 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the Super 8 Motel on IH-35 South and Weidner. A couple exiting a motel room was brutally attacked by the woman's ex-husband, police said. According to the report, Cecilia Ann Ledesma, 42, was stabbed numerous times by h More..er ex-husband, Elpidio Alcorta Ledesma. Her male companion ran away at the onset of the assault, but when the attacker ran off, the man returned to check on the woman, police said. Reports say that is when Elpidio Ledesma returned driving his car at a high rate of speed, and running over both the woman and the man before then fleeing the parking lot. EMS responded, but Cecilia Ledesma was pronounced dead at the scene. Her companion was taken to BAMC for treatment.
