Lankan Navy Thwarts LTTE Bid To Attack Ground Troops By Sea Sri Lanka Navy foiled a desperate attempt made by the LTTE terrorists to attack ground troops during wee hours of yesterday (Apr 26), navy sources said. According to the sources, navy patrol craft deployed in the Northeastern coastal waters of the Island detected a cluster of LTTE attack boats setting off from Vellamullaivaikkal shore around 1 AM. The Navy boats having identified that the terr More..orists were trying to attack ground troops now concentrated on the narrow stretch of land, in the Valayarmadam area, intercepted and attacked the terrorist boat. Navy claimed that three of the LTTE boats were sunk and at least 12 terrorists were killed in the confrontation that lasted for few hours. The rest of the LTTE boats fled with the casualties, the sources added. Sri Lanka Navy maintains four blockades in the Northeastern waters of the Island to prevent the terrorist use of sea lines of communication. The blockades extend from the coastal waters to deep sea and manned by Fast Attack Craft (FACs), Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs), Fast Gun Boats (FGBs), the Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) and the Special Boat Squadron (SBS). Raw video;16-Year-Old Beats Bus Driver Mar 5, 2009 A Michigan woman drives students to school each day, but on Tuesday her morning route became a violent nightmare. Police say the driver became the victim of a student's rage, and instead of driving the bus to school, she was rushed to the hospital. The Kalamazoo school-bus driver is recovering after being badly beaten. Police say a 16-year-old male repeatedly punched the driver i More..n the face and head. The teenager, who is being held at a juvenile center, is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. CBS affiliate WWMT looked into the boy's record, and while his face can't be shown or his name revealed because he is a juvenile, it was learned that the boy has been charged with five assaults going back to 2005. Sources told WWMT that several of the victims in those cases were teachers or workers at the teen's school. The bus driver who was assaulted on Tuesday is a veteran bus driver who was filling in on a route. Police say some of the students on the bus became agitated when she made a stop where there were no students. At that point the 16-year-old got out of his seat, and despite the driver repeatedly telling the teen to sit down, he continued to yell at her, took off his jacket and walked to the front of the bus. As the student threatened her, the driver grabbed the radio to call for help, and the beating began. "It was very violent," Kalamazoo Township Police Chief Tim Bourgeois said of the beating. "First punch that's followed by repeated punching to the head; at that point she is trying to cover her head with her hands." As the attack continued, another student tried to stop it, but the suspect curses at him, pushes him away, and continues the assault. Eventually students managed to push the suspect toward the back of the bus, allowing the driver to get on the radio and make a call on her cell. The suspect got off the bus and fled the scene before police arrived. When officer's questioned the remaining students on the bus, they refused to give any information. Police eventually tracked the 16-year-old suspect to his home in Kalamazoo.
