Armed Robbery at Ohio Walgreens LORAIN — [06/17/09] A suspect in Wednesday's armed robbery of the Walgreens store at 5411 Leavitt Road was arrested Thursday in Cleveland on an unrelated drug case and is also wanted for an armed robbery in Sandusky. Maurice Harrison, 31, of Cleveland, is wanted for aggravated robbery and kidnapping for the armed holdup of a Howard Johnson Express Inn on Cleveland Road, Sandusky, just one hou More..r before the Lorain robbery, according to Sandusky police Detective Sgt. John Orzech. Harrison is also charged with aggravated robbery by Lorain police, according to Lorain police Detective Dennis Moskal. Harrison is one of three men who can be seen on surveillance footage of the Lorain and Sandusky crimes, Orzech said. A second suspect has been identified but is still at large and is considered armed and dangerous, according to Moskal. U.S. Marshals are working with other authorities to pursue that suspect, Moskal said. The third suspect has not been identified yet, according to Moskal and Orzech. Phoned-in tips and surveillance video images helped authorities identify Harrison and the second suspect, Moskal said. The Leavitt Road Walgreens was robbed by three men with handguns just before 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to a Lorain police report. The robbers terrorized store employees and a 61-year-old customer, holding a gun to the man's head while taking his wallet, car keys and cell phone before forcing him into a closet, Moskal said. No one was hurt, but an undisclosed amount of money was stolen from the store cash registers. The same three men are believed to have entered the lobby of the Cleveland Road Howard Johnson Express Inn in Sandusky about 5:10 a.m. Wednesday, Orzech said. All three had handguns, and took the clerk to the cash register area to empty out the money, according to Orzech. The clerk, a woman, was then taken to a back office where her hands and feet were duct tapped, he said. No one was hurt in the Sandusky crime, according to Orzech. Sandusky police are awaiting the results of a hearing before they can bring Harrison back to Erie County to face charges, Orzech said. A spokeswoman for Walgreens said security measures are always reviewed at stores where crimes have been committed, but would not say whether any changes were put in place at the Leavitt Road location or the Walgreens store at 2730 Broadway, Lorain.
